Cavorting With The Poets: An Update To Our Feeds

Regular listeners may have noticed some slightly squiffy behaviour in some of our podcast feeds this week, in particular our older shows like The Tower and Middle:Below.

You may also have noticed that all the ads have disappeared.

To quote a very well known (and slightly tired) piece of advice from audio drama: Don't Panic

December 2024 marked the end of Tin Can Audio's contracts with the Rusty Quill Network. It was a joy to be asked to join and be a part of the network and it has been wonderful to grow as an artist and podcaster and meet and collaborate with so many other incredible creators during our time there. I think RQ are doing really cool things with audio drama and podcasting and advocating for the medium with advertisers.

The honest reason we decided to leave the network was that Tin Can Audio is changing.

(transitioning, even)

When I started Tin Can Audio it was an umbrella under which I could put all of my audio dramas but, increasingly, it is becoming a place for other people's stories.

It is no longer an 'I' it is a 'We'.

This year we made Camlann, written by Ella Watts, which has been a resounding success. We made Fund Me Or Fight Me in collaboration with Sarah Grant to promote her upcoming feature film Fight Me. We also made Folxlore with In The Works all the way back in 2020, and next year we will be making a brand new audio drama by one of the writers of Folxlore, the absolutely incomparable Bibi June.

These shows did not get added to our network roster, as they weren't mine to offer, and it felt unfair to the folks at RQ to be saddled with my back catalogue, waiting for me to make something for them, while I was off cavorting with the poets.

This is a very long way to say that we are no longer on the Rusty Quill Network and our feeds are, once again, ad-free.

There are also a couple of additional feed updates:

- The Tin Can Audio Presents feed will soon no longer be available. While this was mainly an archive feed, the new shows that were hosted there (Anamnesis and the Covers series) are both available for free on the Tin Can Audio Bandcamp page.

- The Love & Wards feed will also soon no longer be available, but will still be available to listen and download on Bandcamp.

The reason for these changes is a combination of different practicalities and costs but, importantly, nothing is lost.

I'm also going to be giving the feeds a polish and removing things like updates and trailers that aren't relevant anymore.

It's too early to tell what Tin Can Audio is growing into. There have been conversations about Maybes and Potentials, and every year I find myself looking back and seeing how much it has changed since cobbling together the 2 minute teaser for Tin Can back in 2016.

I'll do a proper end of year thing later this month but, for now, enjoy the rest of your December, and thank you for listening.
