In 2024, Oliver Morris, Lou Sutcliffe and Amber Devereux decided to see if they could write, record and produce an audio drama in as short a time as possible. The result was a mess, but a lot more fun than it had any right to be.

On the last Monday of every month, the team come together on the Tin Can Audio Twitch channel, sometimes with the aid of a special guest, to make an audio drama from ideas generation to final mix, live, as quickly as possible, adhering to a set of strict(ish) rules.

​

ADDQ RULES FOR SUBMISSION

​

1. Each run must be recorded from start to finish, either through video or audio

​

2. Runs must be submitted to tincanaudio.co.uk/contact to qualify for the leaderboard

​

3. Story ideas are to be generated via a random prompt e.g 3 tarot cards, I Ching, random word generator

​

4. Writing - Each script must have the following:

  • 4.1. Minimum 3 scenes (5 minutes minimum)

  • 4.2. Minimum 2 speakers, maximum 3

  • 4.3. Minimum 3 sound cues (footsteps do not count)

  • 4.4. Minimum 1 music cue

  • 4.5. A story that is at least coherent and preferably compelling

 

5. Editing - The audio project file has the following restrictions:

  • 5.1. Maximum of 4 tracks, but infinite buses

  • 5.2. Prefab music and sound effects only

  • 5.3. 1 foley effect to be recorded during the run

 

6 Final Mix - the final mixdown should be

  • 6.1. 44.1kHz/16-bit mp3, 256 constant bitrate

  • 6.2. Normalised to -16 LUFS, brickwalled to -0.1db

 

7. Timer starts when ideas generation begins

8. Timer stops when the final file is opened and played
